Uncovering the hidden value of Mastercard’s offers program

Across the APAC region, Mastercard manage a comprehensive offers program to support merchant offers and promote exclusive benefits to cardmembers. To help attract both a higher volume and value of offers from merchants, Mastercard commissioned Sonder to conduct an audit and valuation of their media network.

The valuation covered 10 countries in the APAC region including Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Australia.

Once Mastercard understood the strategic value of their media assets, Sonder was then charged with building a ratecard for specific markets. The rate cards have been deployed in the Sonder Media Management Software (MMS), enabling Mastercard to quantify an accurate media value at a campaign level for merchants.

The MMS platform allows package templates to be created ensuring the media being provided to merchants is approved by Mastercard and allows users to create professional campaigns quickly and easily.

The Sonder owned media valuation has helped Mastercard understand the importance and commercial value of our media assets across the APAC region. Sonder’s valuation covered 10 key regional countries and identified which markets were primed for leverage now and which markets need to focus on owned media audience growth. The work has led to Sonder now developing owned media rate cards that empower local Mastercard teams to value owned media at a campaign level and share that value with our partners.
